If both introns and exons both went to the ribosome, the ribosomes would translate the entire premature mRNA, including the introns. This would change the codon sequence and possibly introduce a pre-mature stop codon. As a result, the ribosomes reading frame would be disrupted and the translation would likely stop too early or add to many wrong amino acids causing a nonfunctional protein. Need Assignment Help?
