Investments in energy-conserving data

Assignment:

Investments in energy-conserving data centers or other computing facilities can reduce the long-term costs of ownership and maintenance. But organizations need to pay upfront premiums to invest in green computers that are both energy efficient and environmentally responsible. Organizations that have invested in green hardware find that the energy savings, extended product lifecycle, positive public image, and other benefits exceeded the additional costs of that hardware—improving net profit.

a. Given this situation, in your opinion, why wouldn’t companies invest in energy-saving IT and business practices?
b. In your opinion, why aren’t managers more concerned with global warming and the greenhouse effect? That is, why aren’t all levels of management concerned enough about the health of current and future generations and the planet to make investments to reduce GHGs?
c. What can you do to reduce your carbon footprint and still meet your responsibilities? (Skipping class to reduce driving would not meet both those criteria.) What would motivate you to take the actions?
d. Why is reducing your carbon footprint so difficult?

Your answer must be typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman font (size 12), one-inch margins on all sides, APA format and also include references.
