Question1. Several authors have emphasized the vulnerability of tourist destinations, and thus tourists, to disasters and some have suggested that, in these situations, tourists might be more exposed to danger than anyone else (Drabek, 1995).

i) Critically discuss the different approaches adopted by researchers to define disasters and crises.

ii) Critically discuss and analyze the prerequisites for and ingredients of effective tourism disaster management planning.

Question2. Marine tourism and recreational activities are the major tourist activities within the tourism sector of many destinations including Mauritius. As such, marine resources are very important components of a destination’s product and their sustainable use is a prerequisite for the development of coastal and marine tourism. The literature has revealed that there are a number of incentive instruments available which can be used as policy tools in the management of such resources.

Using relevant examples to illustrate your arguments critically analyze the different incentive instruments available to manage the use of such resources and ensure their continued survival.
