In what ways are the deaf a cultural and linguistic minority

Problem:

We have learned that Deaf individuals prefer to be called Deaf, and do not consider themselves disabled. Why is this? In what ways are the Deaf a cultural and linguistic minority instead of identifying as disabled? How has this unique group's labels (i.e. hearing impaired, deaf and dumb, deafmute, and handicapped) have changed over the years?

Oftentimes, Deaf individuals enjoy the same conveniences as hearing people to, especially with technology. What types of technology used in hearing culture could be beneficial for those that are Deaf? What technology has not been invented or perfected yet that might be beneficial? Need Assignment Help?
