Writing Assignment: Chicano History Essay
Is the southwestern United States, "Occupied America" or what some would say, "Occupied Mexico"? Is Rudy Acuña correct to say that the southwestern United States really belongs to Mexico? In other words, do the authors consider the role of the Indians in what is now the American Southwest? Did the Mexicans treat the Indians the way the Anglo Americans treated the Mexican inhabitants? In other words, how would the Mexican treatment of the Indians in the American Southwest change one's views, if at all, about the social and economic injustices perpetrated by the Anglo Americans? Cite TWO examples from each author.
