Identify the specific type of membrane transport

Assignment task: For each of the following scenarios, identify the specific type of membrane transport (e.g. passive transport is not specific) that is occurring and explain how you know it is that type of transport. Type your answers in the space provided.

The concentration of sodium (Na+) outside of the cell is lower than it is inside the cell. However, the cell utilizes a membrane protein in order to bring more sodium into the cell against its concentration gradient.

A plant cell is placed in a solution containing 10% sodium chloride. This concentration is much greater than the concentration inside the cell. As a result, water moves from inside the cell to outside the cell causing it to shrivel and die.

A protein has been produced inside a liver cell that needs to be transported to the bloodstream. The protein is too large to fit through a membrane protein channel, so the protein is packaged into a vesicle which merges with the plasma membrane, releasing it to the blood vessel outside the cell.
