- First, review the categories listed in the community asset: Associations, Individuals, physical spaces, local economy, and institutions.
- Draw asset map that is specific to a community in Calgary Canada . List as much detail for each category as you can find. Your map will include more or less detail, depending on the size of your community, but attempt to list at least 10 items under each category.
- Lastly, answer the following reflection questions:
Q1. People and organizations from different racial, cultural and language backgrounds should be included. Are there some groups in the community who are missing, or that you know little or nothing about? Who are they? What are their assets?
Q2. Are there some groups in the community whose assets dominate? Who are they? What are some implications of this?
Q3. What assets are most important given the issue in your community you would like to address?
Q4. Identify the most helpful assets in your community (assets should give you the credibility, resources, and community support you need to implement your actions)
Q5. Identify the balance between public, non-profit/volunteer, and private organizations that will help you to implement your plan.
