Project Assignment: Program Plan
In your program plan, you will perform an informal needs assessment based on the organization that you selected and was approved by your instructor. Specifically, from a management perspective, perform a needs assessment by following the steps below:
A. Introduction
a. Create an introduction that describes your chosen organization, including name, location, focus, and any pertinent demographic factors.
Chosen organization: Institute for Genomic Medicine at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. For more than three years now, the institute has been trying to develop the pediatric cancer and genomic program (Hawkins, 2016). The goal of developing the program has been enhancing the therapeutic wellness of children patients.
Professor's note: Hello, intuitively I don't doubt that there is a need here for this kind of program. The issue is that you were going to have to bring some data forward about what these costs are? What are the costs specifically in this institution with regard to these types of patients? Perhaps there are data published that you can extrapolate if you cannot find costs for this specific institution? It would seem to me that there would be data in the literature in this regard that you could use for measurements. The issue is that if you don't have quantitative data to justify the program then you don't know what you were going to measure in terms of outcomes. Also sounds like you can do some work regarding mortality rates in that facility or again if you cannot find facility specific data than mortality rates for this population in that area. Remember that department of health website at the local and state level can be valuable.
B. Needs Assessment
a. Examine the organizational design for potential program development.
b. Identify potential needs through analysis of healthcare disparities. For example, are there needs that are not currently being met?
c. Analyze the cultural competence of the current healthcare programs or environment. Is the current environment accessible to those of different cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds?
d. Recommend a strategy to achieve the desired results, based on the results of your assessments.
e. Explain how your strategy aligns with ethical practice guidelines. Does your program consider or involve the ethical practice guidelines of the health professions that are involved in administering the program? For example, will your program involve nurses, pharmacists, social workers, physicians, and so on?
Format your assignment according to the give formatting requirements:
a. The answer must be double spaced, typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
b. The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the course title, the student's name, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.

Outcomes
a. Identify the anticipated outcomes of your program. How do you see the program working to achieve your desired results?
b. Examine the current process flow and how your new program proposal would fit into it. What effect would the program have on other programs in the flow?
c. Predict the impact of the proposed program. What other areas of the community or organization will it affect? Why? If there is no impact, explain your reasoning.
d. Predict the impact of the proposed program on cultural competence. How will it impact compliance with cultural competence standards? If you believe there will be no impact, explain your reasoning.
