If I were to look up a real world problem, I believe I would search it using AI such as CHATGPT. But I would not rely only on chat. I would use the sources provided in the scholarly databases such as the University of Phoenix Library and Google. This tool I believe will help with ideas and a correct set up, help find references, organize the information. I would look for other databases that provide peer-reviewed, and evidence-based information. I would select something that talks about mental health and addiction co-occurring issues. This has been a major problem for individuals who are affected by mental health and drugs and alcohol addiction(National Institute of Mental Health. (2024). Substance use and co-occurring mental disorders). According to World Health Organizations, 2022"Access to quality mental health care remains a significant public health concern that requires evidence-based solutions".
I would use CHATGPT to gain solutions by comparing what's evidence-based, identify mental health programs for the community, and analyze current research that will access essential care. AI has helped with organizing literature, also identifying common themes, and helping find other needed resources. AI-generated information should be verified. I believe this can be done through peer-review. I believe it will help make ethical decisions(American Psychological Association, 2023).
I feel that the topic on mental health and addiction is a good choice for me. Because I work in this field as an addiction treatment counselor at a prison. Mental health and addiction causes individuals to self medicate themselves because they have lack of resources, funds, or mental health could have been caused by drug and alcohol use, and made an underlying issue worse. Which leads to self meditation. Mental health and addiction is profound and has impacted families as well as the community. As I continue my study in psychology. I expect to expand my knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practices, have stronger research, and gain skills in critical thinking and making ethical decisions.
