Assignment:
Students will be required to complete a research proposal, which incorporates the various aspects of writing a research proposal: Problem Statement, Literature Review and Research Design as well as your Survey Tool and APA Assignments.
The final paper should be outlined as follows:
1. Explain the background of the problem and focus of your research. Specifically state what you intend to study. This is Component 1 (1 page) - Statement of the Problem.
2. Briefly explain what has been studied in your topic area and what is currently known about your subject. This is Component 2 (4 pages) - Literature Review.
3. Explain the following components to your proposed research. This is Component 3 (4 pages) - Research Design:
- Type of Research Design
- Pros/Cons to using this type of design
- Unit of Analysis (From whom/what will you gather your data?)
- Sampling: what form?
- Sample Details: size, demographic characteristics
4. Data Collection/Instrumentation. This includes your Suvey Tool Assignment:
- How will the data be collected? Describe the process thoroughly.
- By whom; when/for how long?
- What type of data will be collected?
- Provide a list of variables/data you require for your study.
5. Conclusion and implications of your research. This is Component 3 - Conclusion (1 page):
- Explain the benefits of your research: What will be learned? How will it influence policy or the context of criminal justice?
- Discuss any possible disadvantages, ethical concerns, or "hurdles" that may be encountered throughout your research process.
References (At least 5 Scholarly, Peer-Reviewed Journal Articles). This is your APA Assignment.
