Summary of Paulo Freire was a Brazilian philosopher whose radical ideas influenced how we think about and approach education today. Freire passionately expounds on the mechanical defect in the current system in his essay The 'Banking' Concept of Education, and proposes a method that he says medicates the classroom learning-teaching dysfunction. The oppressive "depositing" of information (thus the word "banking") by teachers into their students, according to Freire, is the incorrect conception.
