Problem

Research an HR-related issue at a specific company. This could be a company that is highly visible or one for which you have worked. As examples, your project could be on how to address a toxic work culture at Goldman Sachs; whether or not forced distribution performance appraisal should be kept or changed to another system at Yahoo; how to handle gender/racial bias discrimination claims at Google. It is up to your group to pick a specific company and HR issue and you are welcome to speak with me about your choice. In addition to an introduction and conclusion, the presentation should have the following parts:

• Description of the HR-related issue and your diagnosis of the root cause of the problem.

• Your proposed solution as to how to address/solve this issue (why is this solution best?)

• How to implement this solution at the company, e.g., the specific steps, processes that it would involve?

You can think of your group as a consulting team that has been charged with developing a presentation to an executive (e.g., Vice President of Human Resources) in the form of a pitch to try to "sell" a proposed solution that you could then be hired to implement if your pitch is successful. Your project must cover each of the three sections above. Your solution needs to be realistic, evidence-based, and must address the root cause of the HR-related problem. The pitch must be persuasive with a clear thesis (overarching argument). These are key criteria on which your project will be evaluated.
