Assignment Task: Your mission in this assignment is to familiarize yourself with the quest pattern by doing some research. You will find it fun and interesting. Try the search strings 'heroic quest pattern', 'cosmogenic monomyth' and/or 'quest for enlightenment'. You could also look for general, associated concepts like 'archetypal patterns'. Joseph Campbell, Carl Jung and Northrop Frye are some names of scholars that have written about the quest pattern in the last 50 years or so. You could look those up also.
After completing your research, decide on one approach to the quest pattern that makes sense to you and use it throughout this unit.
As you research the quest, you should make notes and document your sources. Use the Log provided or PDF Version. You may also wish to view the example of the annotated bibliography again. Completing all four entries on the Log template in full detail is necessary to earn full marks. Do not cut and paste from your sources, but do provide substantial detail from each source. The chart will expand accordingly for your text.
