How to care for people properly

Case study: Ethical obligations Terry is a 39-year-old male who is employed as a support worker in a residential facility. Terry is close with Jim who is one of the residents in the facility. Jim is a smoker and has been smoking since he was 14 years old. Jim has had a recent diagnosis of Emphysema. Jim's family have asked him to stop smoking and requested to the facility that Jim not be supported in going outside to smoke. Terry often takes Jim outside for him to smoke. Jim has promised his family that he will stop smoking. However, Jim has continued to smoke, and his family are now very upset at the facility for allowing Jim to continue to smoke. Jim's family are not visiting him as often and have ceased buying him cigarettes. One of Jim's daughters, Maggie, approached Terry to ask that Jim not be supported to smoke and became quite aggressive in their language towards Terry, where Maggie said "this facility is a dog's breakfast, you people don't know how to care for people properly".
