How Stuff Works
Paper instructions:
1. You are a student intern working for Marshall Brain at his Web site “How Stuff Works”.(www.howstuffworks.com ) He has asked you to evaluate the effectiveness of the graphics on one of the pages on his site.
2. Select a topic of interest to you, such as How Web Pages Work or How Hurricanes Work. Study the site and analyze the graphics. Are there enough graphics to illustrate the topic? Are the graphics clear and informative? Are they well integrated with the text on the pages? What changes would you recommend?
(NOTE: Only comment on the graphics that pertain to your topic and not the graphics that are part of the many advertisements on the page. Also, if the topic you choose has no graphics or very few graphics, it would be a good idea to choose a new topic).
3. Compose a 500- 750 word memo to Marshall Brain that presents your conclusions and recommendations. Please also include the web address of the page (topic) about which you are making these recommendations and conclusions (reminder: if you need some help with the format of your memo, sample memos can be found in Module 3.3).
