Topic-
The textbook readings for this topic discuss how sexual attitudes and values varied among cultures throughout history. These attitudes and values were shaped by various influences. What are your personal attitudes and values in regard to sexuality? What influences have shaped those attitudes and values? Are the influences that have shaped your attitudes and values toward sexuality different than the influences that shaped your parent's or grandparent's generations? Explain.
Answer-
My personal attitude is that people should be allowed to be with a consenting person of legal age. Sexual orientation should not be a reason to not be with the one you love, but I understand that there are moral and legal issues to take into account. Homosexuality is now well recognized and the stigma's are lifting, so there is hope that we as a collective and as human beings can learn compassion for others. Until recently, I have not attended church regularly, but I always believed in God and that Jesus Christ was my savior, and I have always wanted people to be happy and not cause conflict over something that I did not understand. I wanted to learn, not judge. My parents and grandparents grew up in a different time where being different was not ok. My father is a retired sergeant, and his role required him to have ethics, compassion, and a keen awareness of racial and other forms of inequality. I believe this example helped shape my behaviors and actions along with my faith to try and learn what I can about psychology, what I have observed and personal experiences to hep those struggling to navigate in life. Also growing up in a diverse area allowed me to lernabout other cultures and their attitudes. With depression being a major hurdle in my maternal family lineage, I aimed to learn about it so I could avoid falling into the family pattern, thus far successful. Need Assignment Help?
