How researchers select samples in both kinds of research

Problem:

Please provide a discussion response with APA citations and references to "This unit really emphasizes that Theory development plays an important role in how researchers select samples in both kinds of research. Theory seems to really help clarify what variables or experiences are most relevant to whatever the study is. In quantitative research, theory tends to guide the researcher toward larger and more representative samples so that findings can be generalized to broader populations. For example, predictive and experimental designs rely on statistical concepts such as variability and adequate sample size to strengthen what is known as generalizability. It also helps to support theory testing (Sheperis et al., 2024). When a theory is well developed, researchers can then define inclusion criteria and control variables. This seems to increase the likelihood that the findings can be generalized to more broad populations, even outside of the original sample in the study (Tcherni-Buzzeo & Pyrczak, 2024). This is particularly important to us when it comes to counseling research because when researchers test interventions across diverse populations or treatment settings, we get a good idea of the treatment plan we may use with our clients based on their chief complaints and presenting symptoms. Qualitative research sampling is typically shaped by theory development in ways that go a bit more deeper. Need Assignment Help?
