Discussion Post: Prosecutorial Misconduct
Prosecutors are held to high ethical standards, just as other attorneys. Unfortunately, sometimes those ethics are breached. Cases have been overturned due to prosecutorial misconduct; this often includes prosecutors withholding exculpatory evidence (or evidence that would tend to prove a defendant not guilty).
Describe how prosecutorial misconduct can affect the public's view of the criminal justice system.
In your responses, compare the action of the prosecutor to the consequences to the defendant. Does your view of the misconduct rely on the type of crime the defendant is suspected of committing? What other factors affect your view?
