Problem:
Reply to the following: 1. Men and women in my family grew up eating from two separate tables during lunch or supper, and this is still the norm for many of my family members today. 2. How do I currently see it in relation to my faith? I think this cultural practice in my community is perceived to enhance and promote men's authority, leadership, and respect over women in families and communities at large, and I don't think it has any negative effect on my Christian faith at all, as the love and honor of my mother and sisters are no different from that of my father and brothers. But on the contrary, I personally think it is something that resonates in some way with the biblical view of headship taught, like in 1 Corinthians 11:1-16; 14:34-35; 1 Peter 3:1-6; 1 Timothy 2:11-13. 3. One area where I feel tension or uncertainty between my culture and Christianity I see a tension mostly in non-Christian households of my community, who may now turn this cultural practice into abuse against women and children. Since not all family households are born-again Christians, this cultural practice tends to promote an unbiblical view that Men are not equal to women, and sadly, we see this perception eventually paving its way now into the church. 4. What do I currently know about ATR? What comes to mind about African Traditional Religion is this physical and spiritual African worldview or belief about God and all the created order outside the Christian faith. Need Assignment Help?
