How does design limit researcher ability to make conclusions

Problem

A. Bachik, et al. (2021) note that the VIA character strengths reflect individual differences and are viewed as being on a continuum, rather than categories. Explain what it means for a strength to be on a continuum. Then, explain how strengths are both similar to, and different from, personality traits.

B. Which VIA character strengths (CS) were hypothesized to be positively related to life satisfaction? Was that hypothesis supported (explain)?

C. Which character strength did the researchers hypothesize to have the strongest positive relationship to academic performance (achievement)? Was that hypothesis supported? Based on this research, what CS might academic institutions be recommended to encourage and foster in their students.

D. Is this study an experimental or correlational research design? How does this design limit the researcher's ability to make causal conclusions on the relationship between CS and well-being, etc.?

E. Based on the results of this study, which one VIA character strength is the strongest predictor of positive outcomes (e.g.., happiness, resilience, and academic achievement)?

F. Finally, imagine that you're a researcher examining character strengths and well-being outcomes in college students. Which of the variables studied here do you think need to be re-examined and why? Do NOT just propose re-doing the same study to have "more research." Consider the results and what was unclear, contradictory, etc.
