Problem: In your program, how do you get to know families? We live in diverse communicates, and often we must negotiate language and cultural practices which are unfamiliar to us. How do you get to know family practices and values, and how do you incorporate these into your program? Give some examples.
We have family nights at school, back to school night, our teachers have nightly folders, constant texts, and phone calls. Our school is small and very family and community oriented so we like to be involved in the happenings around it. We have 4 families who speak spanish in our classroom at the moment, 1 speaks very little English so we do our best with his family and him, he is learning and so are we, the other 3 are native Spanish speakers however they are also fluent English speakers so they aid when they can and help the other family. There is a very tight knit Hispanic community in our school area that is so nice. We also have a tight knit muslim community around our school that we love and they help each other out when needed as well. The community around us is also low income and the local church aids by providing food for weekend and long breaks such as winter break and spring break. Need Assignment Help?
