Discussion Post: Sociology
• Describe the process by which a social phenomenon comes to be recognized or labeled as a social problem. Then address whether the troubles of some people tend to matter more than others.
• Why is social change conceived of as a process? And how does this process tend to work from beginning to end. You may use a social movement you are familiar with to help illuminate or enhance your answer if you'd like.
• How do sociologists go about researching social problems. Describe the methods that they employ, then focus on the one you think is best and explain it in further detail.
• Explain how we tend to look at poverty in America being careful to tend to whether we tend to look at this as a public issue or individual trouble. You may also look at how and why being in poverty limits or constrains people.
• Describe 2 negative aspects of American health. You may discuss healthcare, trends in individual health or both.
