How did the factory system and child labor challenge the ideals of freedom and equality? What impact did the Revolution have on the rights of women? or of Africans displaced by slavery?
• Consider the Histories of the Mexican and Latin American revolutionary movements in the 1810 - 1830 era. In what ways did the New World colonies of Spain benefit from the earlier American and French revolutions? How did Napoleon's attacks on Spain enable revolutions in Central and South America? What important differences were there between the American revolution and the Mexican revolution?
• How do romantic landscapes reflect the ideals of Romanticism? Specifically, how are these ideals embedded in the paintings of Joseph Mallord William Turner?
