How did your prediction compare to outcome at age twenty one

Problem

In many ways, emerging adulthood is the stage at which the risk and protective factors from earlier stages start to have noticeable differences in life outcomes (according to a number of important measures including SES, health and well-being). Many times, this is fantastic. Frequently, this is a mix of good, bad, or indeterminate variables. Unfortunately, this can also be an extremely consequential time that can fundamentally limit future options.

There are two specific trajectories: the path to a college degree and the path to prison. After watching segments of the two assigned videos (Age 21 in America and The If Project), please respond to the following questions:

After watching the first part of Age 7 in America, I asked you to make predictions about two of the children. After watching segments from Age 21 in America, how did your predictions compare to outcomes at age 21? What risk or protective factors did you or didn't you anticipate that may have influenced these children's lives?

After watching The If Project, consider some of the factors the women in the film mentioned that might have changed things for them. With what you have learned about development so far, choose one or two intervention strategies you think could make a difference to reduce the current rate of incarceration without compromising safety. Describe and support your ideas.
