During this week's readings, I realized I could apply insights from both professional and academic group settings. Chapter 5 discusses how conflict and resistance are inherent developmental processes rather than signs of group failure during the storming and norming phases (Gladding, 2019). When tensions arise during group facilitation, this perspective will help me, as the facilitator, remain calm, cool, collective, and professional. Ensuring orderly transitions that every voice is heard, and that respect is upheld. Gullo and Lo Coco (2021) noted that recognizing the importance of early recognition of bond ruptures can strengthen cohesion in counseling group settings. Okech and Champe (2016) reminded me to approach differences with cultural humility and be aware of intercultural conflict.
