Problem
As a stigmatized but also medicalized condition, obesity lies at a relatively unique juxtaposition; well-meaning efforts to improve health may be stigmatizing if not carefully framed, while people using insulting language about obesity may attempt to explain away problematic characterizations with the claim that they are simply concerned about people's health. How can the medical establishment address health issues surrounding obesity without contributing to (or while minimizing contributions to) stigma?
