Social Policy with Target Populations
Write a short paper of no more than three double-spaced pages, in which you choose a social welfare issue and select a target population that specifically views this issue from the perspective of a target population. For example, how does this issue uniquely impact social welfare experiences of different groups, such as adult men, adult women, children, teens, seniors, people with a disability, immigrants, a minority ethnic group, or members of the LGBT community? In your paper, address the following:
. How are social welfare problems defined or viewed by society in relation to this population?
. How are social justice issues framed in relation to this population?
. What do social welfare and public policy experts do when working with your selected population.
. How do social beliefs influence the way this group or population is viewed and supported by the social work profession? (This is a macro system perspective.)
