Historical Perspectives of Human Behavior

Please note, I need help on the assignments below:

Introduction

A commonly held belief is that in order to understand the present, it is important to know and understand the past. As you view the Historical Perspective Timeline and read about the history of human behavior and society in Unit 1, you will see how human needs and social conditions have changed throughout time. Additionally, you will see how groups in need were defined and who provided services to them.

Beyond viewing the Historical Perspective Timeline of human behavior, you will also be looking at the different models of service delivery for providing help to those in need. The three primary models of service delivery are the medical model, the public health model, and the human services model.

Furthermore, beyond intervention models for providing help to those in need, you will review on the other end of the continuum the models of levels of prevention.

The three levels of prevention: primary, secondary, and tertiary, may be reviewed in the Service Models and Delivery?Levels of Prevention chart in Unit 1.

As you complete the readings for this unit and interactive pieces, consider the following questions:

1. How does the history of the human behavior profession influence your view of those in need?
2. What organization providing intervention or prevention is best suited for meeting a specific need, for example HIV or AIDS?

Applying Service Delivery Models

For this discussion:

Select two contemporary social problems of interest to you.

1. Identify which of the three major models of service delivery (medical model, public health model, or human services model) best describes the approaches commonly used in human service to address these two problems.

2. Explain your choices and elaborate on how the models can best be applied to the selected social problems.

Applying Prevention Programs

3. Preventive measures are also important when addressing social problems.

4.Identify and describe a primary, secondary, or tertiary (only one) prevention program in your community or state that addresses a specific contemporary social problem.

5. Identify the relevant population(s) the prevention model serves.
