Geometric Mean
The geometric mean of numbers is defined as the th root of the product of numbers .It is obtained by multiplying all the values of a variable and then extracting nth root of the product. Symbolically,
G.M. =√(X1)(X2)..............(x4)
Where means the various values in the variable and n=number of items.
In order to facilitate calculation, logarithms are used in calculation .Using logarithms the following formula is used for its calculation;
Calculation of Geometric Mean (Individual Observation)
It is calculated with the help of logarithms and involves following steps:
(1) The logarithms of logs are found of the given values with the help of logarithm table.
(2) The logs so obtained are added.
(3) The total of logs is divided by the number of items
(4) The antilog is found out of the quotient
