There are 4 things to be included in the abstracts: (1) research problems and objectives, (2) methods of research, (3) key results or arguments, and (4) conclusion.
The appropriate tenses to be used throughout the abstract are present or past simple tense for the first part (it should never be written in the future tense) as well as the third part, past simple tense for the second part, and present simple tense for the conclusion.
