When a dam is installed in a river that has salmon, an alternative path of travel for spawning is critical to the survival of the salmon. It is desired to install a series of observation windows so that the public can watch the salmon "run" through this bypass during the season. The design for observation windows is shown in Fig. 4.58 and the wetted portion of the window will be a rectangle of 10 in by 28 in at the center of the window. Four bolts in the holes shown in the Figure hold the window in place. If the windows are to be installed with their centers at a depth of 3 ft below the surface of the water, determine the force on each of the four bolts.
