Find the change in length of a prosthetic leg

You want to find the change in length of a prosthetic leg given a certain amount of force applied. You took a picture of the prosthetic leg and made some rough measurements on the computer. You want to determine if the material is roughly as stiff as a normal leg is. Should you use the equation you learned in class for continuous distributions of areas [integral from 0 to L of F(x)/EA(x)] or purchase an expensive computer program (ie. ANSYS) to make this calculation? Why?
