Find out the infection window period

Question: For each case find the infection window period (IWP), date of event (DOE), repeat infection timeframe (RIT), and secondary BSI attribution period (SBAP). Based on your findings determine if this is a device-associated HAI, and what type based on NHSN patient safety protocols. If you determine it is not and device-associated HAI explains why. Garcia, a 45 year old female was admitted to ED on January 01 after a motor vehicle accident. A triple lumen right femoral central line was inserted emergent in the ED. The patient was admitted to the trauma floor. On January 6 the patient had a maximum temperature of 38.9 C. The infectious diseases specialist ordered 2 sets of blood cultures collected 15 minutes apart. Both blood cultures grew the pathogen, methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). MRSA was not identified in other source, no site-specific infection was identified. The femoral line was removed on January 7 and it was replaced by a peripheral IV line
