During my field placement at a behavioral health company, I primarily served as a group therapy facilitator, which provided limited direct opportunities to engage in advocacy practice. My responsibilities focused on supporting clients' mental health through therapeutic interventions, facilitating communication, and promoting coping skills within a structured group environment. While this work addressed clients' immediate emotional and psychological needs, opportunities to participate in systemic advocacy, policy initiatives, or community-level interventions were minimal. According to the National Association of Social Workers (NASW, 2021), advocacy practice extends beyond individual support to include promoting social justice, influencing policies, and empowering marginalized populations to achieve equitable access to resources.
