Explore relationship between sleep duration-stress levels

Problem: Respond personally less than 40 words: One research method that stood out to me this week is the correlational study design, which examines relationships between variables without manipulating them. I reviewed an article describing a study that explored the relationship between sleep duration and stress levels among college students. The researchers measured both variables using self-report surveys and statistical correlation analysis to determine whether a relationship existed. What interested me most about this method is its ability to reveal meaningful patterns in real-world settings where experimental manipulation would be impractical or unethical. For example, researchers cannot ethically assign students to high-stress conditions just to observe outcomes, but they can measure naturally occurring stress and analyze its association with sleep. This makes correlational research especially valuable in psychology, health sciences, and social science fields. However, an important limitation is that correlation does not establish causation. Even though the study found that shorter sleep duration was associated with higher stress, it does not prove that lack of sleep causes stress; it could be that stress reduces sleep, or that another variable influences both. Understanding this distinction is essential for interpreting research accurately and avoiding misleading conclusions. Need Assignment Help?
