Problem
As we see from our assigned reading, one of the main predictors of an individual student's achievement in school is their social class. One way that class matters in educational outcomes has to do with the differing parenting styles in professional and working-class families.
In your posts for this discussion boards I want you to do two things:
First, explain to the rest of your discussion group how this works using your own words. But, importantly, also incorporate the two major concepts of "concerted cultivation" and "accomplishment of natural growth" in your explanation.
Second, discuss whether you think your own parents used either of these parenting styles when you were growing up. Provide some evidence to illustrate your answer.
