Problem 1: Discuss and explain the powers available to the Security Council under chapter VI of the UN Charter to peacefully resolve disputes and be able to explain the various techniques used to resolve conflicts peacefully and maintain the peace.
Problem 2: Explain the powers available to the Security Council under Chapter VII. In particular, it should be able to explain the two enforcement mechanisms of sanctions and the use of military force. Explain the advantages and disadvantages of each. For both Chapter VI and VII actions, explain the roles of other IGOS (particularly regional and sub-regional) and other actors.
