Explain the positions of a conservative politician

Discussion:

List and describe each income support policy's target population, means of funding, and intended outcomes.

1. Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).

2. Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
This program was introduced to provide temporary financial assistance for pregnant women and those families that have one or more children who are dependent. The assistance given by TANF helps in paying for utilities, shelter, food, and other expenses apart from medical expenses. For an individual who gets TANF can also gain access to HFS Medical Assistance Programs as well as SNAP which is also called food stamps (Dimas, 2015).

Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

SSI is a federal income supplement program that is funded by general tax revenues but not the social security taxes. It was started to help the aged people, people that are blind, and disable people, who have little or no income. This program also provides income that is meant to meet the basic needs (Nadel et al., 2004).

Explain the positions a conservative politician or commentator, and a liberal politician would take on the policy.

If you pay attention to what liberal or conservative commentators say, you will easily conclude that there is one point of view and think that the other side of politics is made up of people who are evil schemer and fools. On the income support policies, the liberal argues that there are many people who are indeed in need of help. These people find it hard to find the basic needs and are also not able to afford a good medical care. They say that these people should be taken care of instead of leaving them to languish in poverty.

Conservative people, on the other hand, argue that people should strive and take care of themselves. They also say that if these people are given enough and fair chances, they will be able to support themselves and their families. They say that, if the government gives them the support, these people will turn out being weak and also over dependent on government and in the process they will lose their working will.

Address anything they might have in common ideologically and also describe their differences.

What the social programs have in common is that they were started to help the needs of people of the United States. These programs help in providing food, shelter, healthcare, education and the money given to people through education in both primary and secondary schools. They also offer subsidies to the college education, give insurance to the people who are unemployed and with disabilities, giving housing subsidies including other offers.

Differences

These programs vary in that; they are offered by different organizations on different levels. These levels include federal, state, local, and private levels. They also vary ineligible requirements needed for each program.

Give reasons and examples in support of your analysis

Many Americans do not earn enough amounts that can enable them live above the poverty line. According to the Bureau of Census, in the United States, a family consisting of four individuals should not less than $23,000 per year. However, despite that, many of them find themselves earning as less as $15,000 per year. Some individuals are not able to stay in one job for long. This is as a result of the following factors; disabilities, old age, economic conditions that are poor and the main one is the family crisis (Kaiser et al., 2001). Due to that, there are programs provided by the state that offer income support to the individuals and families that are needy. Some of these programs are:

i. Social Security

ii. Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

iii. Temporal Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
