Stress affects people in both mental and physical ways. When the body experiences stress, it can began to release hormones that can start to attack the body and mind. According to T. Kearns, and D. Lee, Mindfulness is a process that tries to cultivate a nonjudgmental, yet attentive, mental state, is a therapy that focuses on one's Therapeutic Orienta awareness of bodily sensations, thoughts, and the outside it's environment. Yu Jin Jeong, & Chin Kang Koh did a study to show how the stress of school and responsibilities directly affected college women that lead to both physical and mental health issues that negatively affected their academic performance and persistence.( Yu Jin Jeong, & Chin Kang Koh. 2021) A stressful situation in my life that I'm currently having to experience is looking for houses and moving. Moving alone in itself, is a stressful process. Not just only on the body but the mind because I'm having to search for homes, compare prices, and remember what I like and don't like about each house while still upholding my daily responsibilities. Two ways that can help with reducing stress would be to break task down into smaller task so everything does seem overwhelming and also that you feel like your accomplishing some type of goal. In this instance I could pack one week and move the next. Another effective way I reduce stress would be to create schedules suitable and flexible enough for your needs. This would allow you to plan ahead so you won't feel rushed. Instead of cramming to look for a house I did it weeks ahead so! Could incorporate moving into my schedule and so that I could have help with packing and moving everything. This is a direct example of showing mindfulness.

The hope is that reducing a person's overall stress will allow that person to more objectively evaluate his or her thoughts. In MBCT, rather than reducing one's general stress to address a specific problem, attention is focused on one's thoughts and their associated emotions." (Kearns, T., & Lee, D. 2015) I assist my friends and family through stressful situations on a daily basis. My friends call and family call me with stressful events they face throughout their lives and I give advice and guidance to the best of my abilities. For example my sister called me a couple of weeks ago expressing how she felt like she felt overweight and wanted to shed a few pounds. I told her exactly what I would do in her situation and suggested a schedule she could probably commit to and a diet she should do to help her.
