Discussion: The failed war on drugs
The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), a component of the Executive Office of the President of the United States, was established in 1988 by the Anti-Drug Abuse Act. ONDCP's stated goal is to establish policies, priorities, and objectives are to eradicate illicit drug use, manufacturing, trafficking, drug-related crime and violence, and drug-related HEALTH consequences in the U.S.
Are there any problems with ONDCP's goals or objectives? Why?
Are there any forces that you think will ultimately hinder the ONDCP's ability to achieve its stated goals and objectives? Why?
