Mini Case- PVRS vs PLU
Location in Jamaica
Janet Miagie, the new General Manager of Purple View Resort and Spa (PVRS), a Five Star luxury resort in Jamaica comes to you for assistance in drafting a response to a claim (Charter of Demands) she received from the People Labour Union (PLU) for its 200 members.
The union has bargaining rights for workers below the supervisory level. It is anxious to prove their competence to their members, especially since another union has been trying to win bargaining rights for the employees of PVRS.

A. Explain in detail the preparatory work necessary in preparing your response to the claim (charter of demands).
B. Draft a response to the above claim (charter of demands) providing cogent arguments on whether you are or are not in agreement with the improvement in the benefit items of claim and present your counter offers.
C. Justify the type of collective bargaining you would engage in to meet the needs of both parties.
D. Should both parties enter into a negotiation, explain two tactics you would utilize to meet your objectives.
