Explain how motivated reasoning might bias

Problem

We spent some time on inferences to the best explanation or adductive reasoning. Using your own example, explain how motivated reasoning might bias, perhaps unconsciously, one's attempt to to construct an inference to the best explanation. Try to be as concrete as possible in your response.

For an additional 3 bonus points, I would like you to weigh in on whether you think that motivated reasoning prevents us from ever forming a persuasive inference to the best explanation. Why or why not?
