When God doesn't make sense and a biblical reference to: During my experience in a risk-based program at a Title I school, I have personally observed both a lack of care and overabundance of care from children who have experienced trauma or come from broken homes. Throughout my time there, many of my students came from unstable home environments, whether it be separated or incarcerated parents, poverty, neglect, or even violence within the home. These students often presented with emotional instability, lack of emotional regulation skills, and violent behavior at times. Coming from these situations often disrupted the child's nervous system, as they exist in a state of fight or flight, constantly worrying about what may come next. However, I am lucky to have the professionals within my school building to support the various physical and emotional needs of these students. I have seen firsthand that with proper support and accommodations, these students can thrive despite the emotional limitations that resulted from their lack of stability at home.
