Example of an ethical challenge or dilemma

This assignment is designed to immerse you in an actual dilemma case that you can conceivably face in the next several years. You are to identify, research, present, and analyze an ethics dilemma that confronts a management level position.

1. Identify: find an example of an ethical challenge or dilemma that people have encountered in a professional setting during their mid-career relating to fraud or corruption. You may also consider a dilemma described in the news or journal article.

2. Research: familiarize yourself thoroughly with the particular dilemma you have selected. Find out as much information as you can regarding the dilemma. Locate any background information that can shed light on the chronology of events, legal and organizational context, the relevant stakeholders, and the considerations the decision-maker(s) employed.

3. Present: present a case write-up/research paper that clearly describes the dilemma or decision you have researched and provide enough information and detail to give the reader a firm grasp on the issues at stake. At this point, simply present the case.

4. In a separate section (5-6 pages) develop a careful analysis of the case the analysis should include at least the following:
At least two different options or courses of action. Give sound arguments for each of the choices and what values might exist leading to each.

Your ultimate recommendation as to what the person(s) should do, including your supporting logic for why it is the best course of action.

A brief, but detailed description of what the “actor” in the case actually did.
