Problem
The film review should be a short essay, approximately 500-750 words (two to three typed, double-spaced pages). Proper MLA formatting and documentation of sources is expected (see the link to the MLA style on SLATE). This essay is an individual assignment. You may use the first person "I." The essay must be submitted to the "Film Review #1" drop box on SLATE in Word or PDF to be graded. Email submission cannot be accepted.
For this essay choose ONE film from the first half of the course:

Answer one of the following questions:
• Athletes are often looked at as being role models in society. Examine the main athlete in the film you've chosen. Are they a good role model? Are they heroic? What qualities do they possess that make them a positive or negative influence on the world?
• Sports films are full of cliched moments featuring triumphs and tragedies. What is the single most important scene in the film you've chosen? Briefly describe the scene. What makes it so effective? How does it use a sports film cliché to develop one or two sports themes? Include specific examples from the scene in your response.
