Job Market Analysis
Purpose: To conduct market research that will help you identify and evaluate the pertinent contextual details of the future job market in different areas of your chosen career field; Social Work and Forensic Case Monitor.
Objective: Analyze these two different careers, Forensic Case Monitor and Social Worker and communicate their market projections in an informal investigative report.
Audience: Your peers/colleagues in your major field of study and anyone considering seeking employment in related careers.
Strategies: A job market analysis involves outlining the nature of the job, identifying the key skills required and also outlining the profile of the employee suited to such a type of job. Compare and contrast the two different job positions mentioned above. Create the analysis as if you are trying to decide objectively between two occupations, and include a conclusion/ recommendations section based on your career goals. You will need to get into the intricate details that the job requires of its employees (see Notes below).
Notes: Include in your analysis the required background (knowledge and skills needed for the job), training content, working conditions, and pay scale, along with opportunities for advancement, geographic expectations, and job outlook. Job outlook would include information about the future status of employment in these positions. Consider what the job projections (the number of jobs) are in this country, in the St. Louis area specifically, as well as abroad, if there is a worldwide demand for it.
And when composing your report, be sure to utilize document design elements such as headings, lists, visuals, and typographical emphasis. At least 2 visuals are required- they should be strategically chosen and placed in the document to enhance the text in some meaningful way.
Format: Include a Summary, Introduction, Body, Conclusion, and a Recommendation. Remember that this is a comparative analysis; you are not creating an analysis of each report separately. Instead, you must present information on each job side-by-side under the same heading, comparing and contrasting each.
Five page investigative report, plus a works cited page.
Research Requirements: Secondary Research-locate and analyze at least 5 print, web, or media sources. Documentation-cite your sources on a works cited page, use paraphrases and quotation marks when borrowing language, and provide in-text citations for reference.
