Ethical dilemmas versus issues

Assignment:

The effects of globalization have created an increasingly disparate division between the distributions of wealth in the world. The ownership of land, industry and natural resources is in the hands of large multinational corporations and the wealth of the world is in the hands of a few. The problem is of justice and economic distribution. This is sometimes called distributive justice.

Relevant issues to consider as you formulate your analysis might include:

(1) what is fair and just in the distribution of the costs and rewards of an economic system,

(2) what principles of distribution can be applied, and what are the consequences of each different scheme or principle,

(3) whether a laissez-faire approach or a communitarian/socialist approach is better. (Helpful theories and concepts to discuss might include Utilitarianism, John Rawls' Theory of Justice, Robert Noziack's libertarianism, Adam Smith's invisible hand, Marxism (secular) or Christian, Jewish , Islamic socialism.)

Question 1. What are some specific ethical issues related to this area of wealth distribution? (Refer to the Student Toolbox in Course Resources in Content; review the link, "Ethical Dilemmas vs. Issues vs. Facts vs. Legal Issues" for examples and info re: ethical issues.)

Question 2. Should Government regulate this area of distribution of wealth, and if so how much and what type of regulation might be appropriate and effective?
