Employment rights of workforce

Assignment:

Since buying the business nine months ago, Dan had run a small car repair garage with 15 employees. A couple of weeks ago he was given £1M by his father who had won the jackpot in the National Lottery. When his employees turned up for work on Monday morning they found the garage shut, despite customers waiting with their cars. Representatives of a firm of liquidators eventually arrived and told everyone that Dan was winding up the firm and they were now unemployed. Dan had not discussed his intentions with any of his employees and was not available for comment. Assuming that Dan’s actions are legal and the employment rights of his workforce will be respected (perhaps with a new owner being found for the business), is Dan’s action ethical? What further information would help you with your evaluation?
