To improve my digital footprint, I plan to curate my social media profiles by removing any inappropriate content and sharing more industry-relevant articles and insights. When I think about my digital footprint, I realize it could really affect my job opportunities, especially if I want to work in education. School districts and principals often look at social media before hiring someone. If my posts are negative, inappropriate, or unprofessional, it could hurt my chances of getting hired. On the other hand, if my online presence shows that I am responsible, positive, and involved in my community, it could help me stand out. In the future, my digital footprint could continue to impact promotions or leadership roles in education.
To improve my digital footprint, I would review my social media accounts and delete anything that does not reflect who I am today. I would also adjust my privacy settings and be more thoughtful before posting. Creating or updating my LinkedIn profile with volunteer work, tutoring experience and education-related skills would also help. (McDonald et al., 2023)
