Case:
Tom and Mary Jones were married on February 14, 2020 and separated on January 10, 2022. Tom is 30 and Mary is 30. They are both are lifelong residents of Miami-Dade County. They dated for 2 years prior to getting married. When they married, they rented an apartment in Coral Gables but have since turned the unit back over to the owner. They have only a car (2020 BMW 420 that is paid off, but they agree to execute an MSA that reflects that they will sell it and split the proceeds). There are no children born or adopted during the marriage, and Mary is not pregnant. Neither is seeking alimony. They both want to get divorced as quickly as possible and are willing to waive their right to trial and appeal as well as appear for any hearings if it helps speed up the process. Your firm is new to family law and has asked you to research which petition is proper to file in this matter.
